I'd like to keep it under $500 and it'd be nice if it opens up to f/2.8 or so.

I'm buying a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 soon to hold me over until I can get the Nikon 17-55 f/2.8

my widest lens goes out to 28mm, and that's not wide enough for me

a 20mm would probably be ace, if it also had some lowlight capabilities.

I'm a fan of primes, but there are some good zooms too

Closest thing I can think of off the top of my head would be the 10.5 f/2.8G, but it's like $600+.

    superb? nah. i have a 28-80 f/3.3, 55-200 f/4 VR and 50mm f/1.8

i'm not looking for pro glass. i don't want a piece of shit though. if there's nothing that fits my requirements, then so be it.
