I regret selling my 50mm f1.8d last year. It was a great lens for indoor but I found it not wide enough. However going through my photos, the pictures does stand out some what better compare to my 18-200 VR. One thing I didn't like about it was that it was not wide enough.

I've came across these lens (used), all similar priced

    Nikon 50mm f1.4D
    Nikon 35mm f2D
    Sigma 30mm f1.4 HSM

I'll mainly be taking pictures of me and gf while we are traveling.

Just picked up a 50 1.8 today and I'm loving it. :hs:

I've got the 35 f/2, but it doesn't get used nearly as much as I thought it would.

    Of those 3, I'd pick the 50 1.4

if you want wider, the 30mm 1.4 is a good lens

yea, the 50mm is great, it's just not wide enough sometimes. and lots of the situations in which i need a good low light lens (concerts, event photography), I can't just back up

Meeting the guy for the 50mm f1.4d tomorrow.

Gonna go some test, but I'm sure these things are fine even without testing?

if the 50 wasn't wide enough before, why would you buy another one?

the 18-200 provides many of shots, the 50mm will be used in low light situation, usually indoor which is harder to setup a tripod anyways.

    I love my 50 f/1.4... can't say I've used the other ones, so I wouldn't know.
