Asides from the AF-S, I dont see the advantages this lens has over the AF version. It's not like this lens is going to be used for primarily for action shots. And how much of a difference does a .2 increase in aperture size make? It's definitely going to be more expensive than the AF version. I think it's mainly to appease ppl w/ d40s and d60s. :dunno:

I wonder how much more it would have cost Nikon to design and produce the lens as FX capable.

I'm sure a 35 1.4 af-s FX is coming soon. I spoke to mr. kariya and he told me so.

I almost never use my 50 because I can't get far enough from the subject.

a 35 would be a better choice on DX format IMO

agreed...but does the DX mean you can't use it on full frame cameras? And why is that?

Feh, I'd probably just get the $350 Nikon 35mm f/2 AF (which is optically quite good) and save myself from the inane price tag they'll want for a 35mm 1.4 FX.

im not sure what it stands for, but it signifies a cropped sensor on a nikon dslr. this means the pics that you get from a dx nikon camera (ie D40,D60, D70, D80, D90, D200, D300) are going to be smaller in scope than pics that you would get w/ a film or a FX camera.

    35 f/2 is a fantastic lens.

You can shoot f/2 all day long at any distance.
