A&P Nikon 80-400mm ok for Surfing pictures?

    Thinking about renting this lens for a trip down to San Diego to take some surfing pics of my friends. This is for a D90

    Deciding between these 3:

    Nikon 80-400 no AF-S
    Nikon 70-300 AF-S paired with a TC 1.4
    Sigma Bigma? 50-500

    80-400 VR will do good, but i'm sure you could get away with a 70-200 VR too.

    I don't think 200mm is really long enough for surfing. Depending on where the waves are breaking, you would need at least 300. I think a 200-400 vr would be dope for surfing.
