I'm planning on buying an SB600 for my Nikon D50 and I've heard a lot of good things about the 50mm f/1.8. Do you think it's worth it to pick it up? It's only like $110 or something.

Can anyone who has one give me some feedback as to how much you actually use it and in what kinds of situations?

I'd save up some cash and get a wider fast prime or a 85mm 1.8

When I shot Nikon, I hated my 50 1.4. The focal length was meh.

I already have the following lenses:

    Sigma 10-20mm
Nikkor 18-55mm (came with the camera)
    Nikkor 55-200mm VR

The 55-200 is technically work's lens but it stays in my bag all the time. I figure when I leave here I'll man up and buy the 18-200.

I figure having the sb600 and the 50mm 1.8 would be a good addition to my set :dunno:

if all you ever shot was a slow kit lens, then get it and commit yourself to only shooting at f/2 or wider for a good while.

it'll get you hooked on FAST.

give it away to someone when you're tired of it.

35mm f/2 is probably more useful. This translates to about 52mm full frame equivalent.

I have both 35/2 and 50/1.4 primes for Nikon
