I'm really hardpressed in choosing and it's bugging me, but I gotta pick one! Just pick one of these cameras :p Say they both have Nikon and Canon 50mm f/1.8 lenses respectively... which will take the crisper and better picture?

I'll pick the camera with the majority of votes :bigthumb:

Try them both out and pick the one "YOU" think is the best. That's what I did, and have been very happy with my decision. (I went with Nikon, when all my friends etc... went with Canon)

both can take amazing pictures with a decent lens and a decent photographer. i prefer Canon because of the lens selection and high iso image quality.

nikon has a nice selection of wide angle lenses. as far as the d50 / xt, the d50 has better ergonomics. if you stick with photography, you'll eventually move up from the entry level cameras into the prosumer line.

Yep. Pay particular attention to how easy it is to get the camera to do what you want.

Based on that criteria, I'd choose a D50 any day. I've always found the Rebel series to be frustrating to use.

I have used both, and I do prefer the Nikon. The ergonomics are better, but now I want to move up the line with Nikon. D80 or D200 FTW

Yeah, my brother just ordered the D80 this morning. Ive played around with the D50 and I like it...the Rebel just doesnt feel the same. I own a D70s and it feels about the same (I like the 70 better, obviously) but if it were between the Canon and the Nikon....Nikon FTW.

I don't regret my purchase at all, I just want some of the more advanced features that the D80 and D200 offer. I think that the 50 and the 70 are nearly identical, but the 50 has less noise than the 70 at higher isos.

I owned the rebel xt for 3 weeks, took it back and got the d50, and stuck with it, just feels alot more comfortable in my hands, and the cams are almost the same, so it really comes down to that.

Only thing I dont like about my d50 is the fact that the screen on top doesnt light up (thats retarded :ugh:) and the continuous shot is not very fast.
