I got an 18-70 lens when I got my D70 but I'd like to get something with a longer focal length, ~70-200, for some traveling I'm going to be doing this summer.

    Any recommendations?

You're going to have to say how much you want to spend.

I'd buy the 18-200 but it's just too much money, and the 18-70 sells for nothing. I might just get the 70-300 VR and have a larger range for less money, though over two lenses.

    i'd get a 12-24, 17-55, 28-70, 70-200 and a 200 f/2 VR.

oh wait..umm i'd just get the 70-300 VR to compiment your 18-70

the 80-200 2.8 is a great lens. tack sharp, well made, hell of a lot more lens then a 18-200 or 70-300.

I just ordered the 70-300 VR.

At 200mm, its better quality than the 18-200vr

And it's huge as crap, little more money than the 18-200, and you still have to lug more crap around :hs:

:dunno: I looked into it...chose the 18-200 for me. It was a much better choice as I don't want to carry multiple lenses

I heard there were no noticeable differences between the 18-200 Japan/Thai
