I gave a quick review last year on my (at the time) new to me 17-35 2.8 and posted a few sample pics. I was not totally please with it sharpness wide open. I thought I just didn't have a sharp copy. Well I finally spent some time messing with the af fine tune on the d700 yesterday and dam... I feel like I did the lens wrong with my original review. Lens is pretty dam sharp wide open. I ended up with a fine tune setting of -9. Anyway here are the pics. Some are sharpened in post, most aren't. Exif should be in tact. All are at 2.8 with a 100% crop after each pic.

are these fine tune "profiles" saved in the camera? or do you have to always enter the fine tune setting per lens?

They are assigned to specific lenses, up to 12 I think. And you also have the option to turn the feature entirely on or off too.
