I just got my Nikkor 50 F1.8 lens for my D80. When I put the F stop at F22, the camera works fine, but when I put the F stop anywhere from F16-1.8, it says F EE.

Is there something wrong with the lens?

On your lens, the f stop should be on F22 and locked. You will change the actual f stop using your camera settings instead of the lens itself.

Yup, I think the aperature ring is for using on a 35mm camera.

Make sure it is locked and at F22 (maximum whatever you have) just like he said.
