So what do people eat the night before the big race?
Load up on carbs? Raw foods?
you're gonna have to be more specific than "the big race"
running? marathon? sprints?
lots of carbs...
you have GU or anything for during the race?
PASTA, PASTA, PASTA
take some waxy maize in water 45 mins or so before the race or so
have a protein shake ready for IMMEDIATELY after you take your last step in the race... have your team hand you a shaker full of it, and you HAVE to chug it.
also, take a shower IMMEDIATELY after your drink...alternate cold/hot for 30 minutes, 6 seconds at a time hot, then 6 seconds cold
...As long as you shit before your race, or you're going to have the worst race ever.
I did a lot of swimming in high school and we'd always just carb pack the shit out of ourselves. Shit ton of pasta with meat sauce, bread and then some salad too to keep it classy. Always had enough energy.
i cycle and second this quote. carbing up the night before is always good, make sure you get that poop in before your start running.
When I used to race mtn bikes, I'd have a massive bowl the night before. Most pros at the time did the same thing...so I hear.
omgomgomg I cycle too!!!
Last half marathon I ate a HUGE helping of pasta and half of a giant french roll loaf of bread. Ate the other half of the french roll and some yogurt for breakfast. Ran my fastest half-marathon that day (1:42)
Best advise evah!
For me, ODing on carbs the night before doesn't do it. I try to increase my carbs in smaller doses for at least a few day before a race.
Lot's of water first thing in the morning. Hit the alarm and down a glass or 3. Then a light breakfast. A packet of GU (Orange Blast w/ caffeene) 15 minutes before the start and then one more at mile 7. Drink water at every station and you'll be just fine.
I figured if he had trained for the race he would know that by now.
somebody shoulda told him
oops.. probably should have put a warning on that.
Thanks for the advice fellas, Definately will be taking the world's biggest dump before the race.
Sounds like a carb fest the night before, and something small/light the day of.
If you are seriously racing, you should have your nutrition planned.. dont race on food you have never trained with or you may be in for a big suprise
I'd say nothing too heavy. Definitely some gatorade and light carbs pre-race
I'm LOL'ing pretty hard at this. Look at everyone staring at him.
I think he won though.
Well I'd hope so with all that shit on his legs. Looks like he didn't want to stop to shit? I was running last week and had to piss horribly but was kind of out in the open on the side of a highway on a running trail...jumped in a bush and let it rip. Some biker came by as I was peeing and he was like
