What do you guys recommend for an AK47 handguard? Is there on that retains the heat pretty well?

I like the regular wood ones, heat doesn't get that bad unless your putting alot of lead downrange, in which case bakelite would be better.

Wood ones work fine. K-VAR sells polymer ones with a stainless steel heat shield that supposedly keeps the handguards cooler but I have no experience with them.

I have the K-var one, and while they do work decently well, the problem that I have found is that there really is no easy way for the hot air to escape from b/w the handguards, so even with the heat shield, the lower one starts to heat up.
