My nextel contract is up and I am very happy it is up. I have had nothing but problems with nextel and I want to switch to a service provider that has better service in the chicagoland area. If anyone has any cell phone provider suggestions they would be appericated.

Although I'm not anywhere near your area, I have had nothing but great service (reception & customer service wise) through T-Mobile.

They're always nice, don't mind giving extra minutes if you call in and what not. Then again, I've been with them for years. :hs:

Verizon, no reason to switch to anyone else.

For the Chicago area, go with T-Mobile. My friend's up there all use T-Mobile and 1 has Cingular.

I reccomend T-Mobile. They were just recently rated number 1 in customer service by J.D. Power and Assoc., plus if you get a new phone you don't have to deal with the hassle of calling cust. serv. and having them screw up the change over for you. Also, if you frequent an area and get bad reception, you can file a tower request. If they have a few of those, then they look into placing a tower in the area. I know that it has happened before, even in rural areas, with only a handful of requests.

do you know how many requests it would take for a company to put up a $30 million+ cell phone tower?

You can buy a repeater from many of the major companies like nortel and nokia. They run 1 million and first year's maintence is included but you also have to clear city and county codes before they can install it. Fits nicely in a closet. :)

It would easily double as your microwave, oven, and heater. The big bonus is that you'll grow tumors faster than any of your friends and then you can say you're the first. :big grin:

...and you'd have a crystal clear signal when you called to tell them about said tumor.

T-Mobile. Might be a bit biased because I work for them, but the plans are great, the phones are great, the service is great, and the customer service is second to none.

For those who live in NJ and PA...T-Mobile is iffy. If you don't live there, its awesome. :)

Should've been released by now. I'm clueless as to when they're going to get it now.
