Time to knock the dust off the AR, my clubs hosting an IDPA match this saturday with a Rifle side stage. This'll be fun! Videos to follow!

Paging Washington WMD'ers that has a rilfe they'd like to put to the test. I've got Jeri coming out this weekend, any other takers?

Distance from P1 (position 1) to the set of Clays is probably 30 yards.

Just come out! We get a ton of new shooters all the time! One of my best friend is still a new shooter so between you and Jeri and him you guys won't feel out of place. I have a few friends that are "master" class shooters that you can learn a ton from.

It's only 15$ and you get to shoot a full pistol match with 6-8 stages. Trust me, there are a ton of people there that aren't "up to speed" including older gentlemen and kids and we're not all "william tells".

New shooters training/orientation starts at 8:30am sharp! I'll be there setting up and will show you around. Expect to be there til 2pm, but it goes by really fast.

For the rifle matches, is it usually an AR-15, AK-47, or what? Trying to convince my wife that I really need one of these.

Here are bare necessities for this match:

Pistol portion/IDPA match is from 10-2pm, or 8:30am for the new shooters orientation to go through the orientation class, and then we send you to shoot at 10am.

    Gear:

    -Pistol (duh)
    -3 magazines for said pistol
-Belt style holter, Kydex is preferred, but IWB is okay. But I would suggest something you can holster one handed. NO: shoulders holsters, ankle holsters or SOB holsters.
-Dual mag pouch holder or two individual mag holders
    -150 rounds of bullets
    -eye and ear protection
-general gun handling skills (this will be taught at new shooters orientation)

    Here's my IDPA gear...

    For the rifle stage...

    -Rifle
    -2-3 20 round mags
    -25-50 rounds
    -eye and ear protection

Here's a cool "new shooter" refresher...

    http://www.rrmemphis.com/idpa.html

We generally have a crowd of 60-90 shooters turn out, so expect to shoot in front of a crowd (I personally love this). But I'll make sure to help you out and show you the ropes so you don't look like an ass out there. They are a helpful bunch thats cool with new shooters. I am known for bringing a lot of new shooters out there and getting them started.

Most everyone there knows me, so just ask for "Ari" and I'm sure someone will know where I'm at.

If you can shoot it, bring it!

AR's rule out there, but there are plenty of AK Shooters. M1A1, and what ever else that you can use for CQC, so Carbines rule. Obviously bolt actions are not ideal because you will be required to engage multiple targets and perform reloads while using cover.

We are VERY strict about safety and will not tolerate non compliance to range commands or gross safety violations and will be asked to leave if you do so. But for the most part, you should be okay.

Wanna run my Glock set up? It's the set up above. I'll be shooting my Dan Wesson or XD Tactical for the match this Saturday. You just have to provide 9mm ammo.

Once you do you'll ask yourself "what took me so long". It will change your perspective of being a gun owner forever. It's like a kid that's only played "Horse" finally playing a real basketball game. So much better than just "plinking" and you'll never want to do that again.

In CA when there are rifle stages most people use mini-14s

I can't wait for the next one and come out there with my AK :noes:

Is there any reason you guys don't use steel targets for the rifle stage? seems like you could run people through faster....

Not too often, I say 3-4 times a year? We also have "BUG" (back up gun) matches and next week we'll have a .22 match.

    It's all on the "club".

And yes, as tacticool as you wanna get. If you can bring it to the line and not full auto, you are okay.

Ha if I lived in Seattle I would be there, unfortunately I live WAY far away. My wife doesn't think "But it might get banned" is a good enough reason to build an AR. I wonder how my 30-30 lever action would work at one of these matches :mamoru:.
