    Is there such an animal?

I want a new body, but the XT doesn't seem like that much of an improvement over the 300D to justify the cost. But if there was a new DReb coming out soon, I'd hold out for that.

no, the 350xt is the definitive digital rebel body...canon feels that this current rebel is paramount and cannot be upgraded...ever

spend a couple extra and get the 20d. you can find them really cheap used now that the 30d is out. very much worth the upgrade.

the 350 has a great deal of justification over the 300d...startup time alone is worth the money not to mention the 8mp vs. 6mp. but if you want canon, definitely go up to a 20/30d

notihng new for a while anyway, but it is a upgrade over the 300d, but you'd be better off upgrading to the next step up if you do upgrade. new 20d's can be had for under 1k

I've got some extra monies coming in from a wreck I had last month (loss of use, and didn't need a rental), and I'm considering a new camera body. We're going to Detroit next month for the Woodward Dream Cruise, then in September I'm going to DC, and in October I'm heading to Orlando. I'll probably be shooting a bunch in all 3 places, and I'm not as enthralled by my camera set up as I was last year (300D, kit lens, Sigma 55-200).

I pretty much made up my mind that I was going to get the Tamron 28-75, but after finding out about what the loss of use pays, I think I want to spring for a new body as well.

    What am I gaining going with a 20D over a 350D?

    I went from a 350D to a 10D to a 20D so here are my thoughts:
    1) better high iso image quality
    2) second dial - great for adjustments and flipping through menus and pictures
    3) wider girth on the right side - more comfortable to hold
    4) bigger viewfinder - much easier to manual focus with the 20D
    5) 5 fps vs 3 fps - not a huge issue for most but it's worthwhile for others
    6) people say the AF is better on the 20D but I don't notice a difference
