I have been having connection issues with my usenet client (Panic's Unison), which, till thursday night, was working flawlessly. I was downloading a few binary files and bam, it stopped. Said I had an authentication error. Alright, I figured it was just a password issue or something, so I made sure my username, pass and port settings were all good...which they were.

Nothing worked, so I had assumed that my university might have blocked the port. I changed the port to all of the ones that the provider suggests (Newshosting) and still nothing. I had a flight to catch, so I packed up my stuff and went back home (from CA to CO) and tried it again on my own network. Nada. That means it isn't an issue of network blockage....so I emailed Panic and they are pretty much useless. Just told me to make sure my settings were correct.

Any thoughts? Going to check permissions now.

    you too?
the weird part on my end is that Unison on my mac connects, but drops alot, but my windows box with newsleecher refuses to connect at all...

I've been in touch with their tech support, still trying to resolve the matter.

Newshosting as well... at least I know it's not just me then...
    :wtf:

edit: mine crapped out thursday as well... :eek3:

Can anyone recommend a decent usenet service that takes something other than american credit cards such as Maestro/Switch or PayPal.

Just been through UseNet, UseNetServer, GigaNews and they all seem to only take credit cards :wtc:

I can see if they will reset my password, but I thought he told me I was using the right one...

This is the first time any of this has happened...

Maybe this is a Unison error. Anyone noticed issues after upgrading to 1.8?

I emailed Panic to see if there were any known issues with Unison and Newshosting...but I have a feeling they will tell me that it is a server issue....which it isn't...

I've been using Unison and newshosting for over a year without problems (for the most part).

Same here, which is why I am so confused by this.

Although, my keychains have been acting really strange lately....maybe that's the problem...
