How much am I realistically looking at for a 2003 with, say, 12,000 miles on it? I'd be looking for a manual with the ABS/traction control package.

Also, I have checked the prices of cars like a WRX of the same year and mileage and it would cost me thousands more, so it gets kicked down lower on my list. Additionally, I'd like the Mustang to cost less up front to help cover the higher insurance prices I'd pay. I'm over 25, so they won't be outrageous, but they would be higher.

$16,000 is a number I could get my head around. That's why I figured a 2003 GT model.

I think that'd be about right.

I read years ago it allows some spin in a stright line for better acceleration.

My other concern is driving it in the snow every day.

LOL. You guys obviously have no clue what the TC does. When TC is engaged, if the computer senses any loss of traction, it automatically cuts engine power in order to regain traction. It is pretty difficult to spin the tires with TC on.

Ummm, I've owned quite a few Mustangs and now own a 2003 Cobra. I had a 2001 Cobra and a 99 GT prior. I know quite a bit about them buddy ;)

I have a GT and the TCS does its thing. It applies the brakes and cuts engine power. It makes it act like its running on 6 cylinders, quite embarassing actually when you forget its on. Maybe your friends isnt working.

Un-fucking-believable! I KNOW WHAT THE FUCK I'M TALKING ABOUT DUMBASS! What the hell would you know? You drive a POS Camaro. Do yourself a favor and look it up because you are looking like a complete IDIOT! All my cars were 5-spd. (except 03) and they all had TC, I know what the fuck it is.

There would be no reason to have it if it didnt do anything. Plus its the same thing for an automatic. I suppose there could be a chance that he is dumping the clutch at 5k and overpowering the TCS but that would have to be something stupid to try and couldnt be good for it. I cant even say if that would work without trying it.

I also read somewhere (maybe here) that they stopped production to retool for the 05 and the 04 supply was getting low. I dont know if thats true or not though.

I wouldn't say it does nothing. I was able to spin the tires in my Mustang, but it took some effort.

Yes it uses the ABS and engine timing to do its thing. Thats why ABS and TCS is optioned together.

Thats true. Last days for production is early May. Dealers report they are going fast, so if you want a new 04, you better hurry up! :bigthumb:

I heard the same thing, my dad knows the owner of the Ford dealership across the street from his office so I'm hoping they can get me something good...because every single Subaru dealer in Houston will NEVER get my business. Since I'm not getting a WRX I was just going to get the Mazda 3s but I would prefer the GT and trade it in for the '06 GT if they get all the '05 bugs worked out :x:

Are parts costs lower for this than your typical Japanese economy car?
