No options as there is no way to mod a PS3.

Yet. That one dude 'broke' the PS3 sometime this week, and that's usually the first step iirc :o

I'm willing to bet it was on firmware 1.00, wouldn't work on newer FW and, if it did, would be patched immediately by Sony.

as of right now there are no modded ps3's. maybe in the future. even if you did use the iphone guy's exploit and cracked it, there's no benefit to it right now away.

And all he could is run extremely basic homebrew which is not worth it.

he already said that he did this on firmware 2.51 and that he see's no reason why it wouldn't work on the newer firmware versions.

yes I understand that it is not the current version but it also makes your comment false.

He also stated that as the way to get to the hack could be fix through a firmware upgrade. But it would never ultimately eliminate the way to hack it since it was a hardware mod that initially let him into the system.

Finalboss had a thread about it. Search.

I am not too concerned about it.... All that will happen is Sony will realize what PS3's are hacked and which aren't and ban them from PSN.

It is a hardware and software modification that they could search for though out the network. Instance Yellow light.

You guys have to face the fact that since newer consoles are basically internet appliances the days of "easy" hacking are gone, you will always run the risk of a firmware upgrade undoing the hack or of being banned from all network features and multiplayer.

Hardware mods can make it so that new firmware does not undo the hack, but you will just be banned from the network. Software mods may not get you banned from the network but they will be undone by new firmware. A mod that relies on hardware and software modification are susceptible to both, not neither...

If you want free games get a gaming PC and a sub to giganews.
