So i'm looking at some uppers right, and i see this Lorider a3 upper assembly, its nice and all but i was thinking about putting a foward grip on, on cheaperthandirt.com its product number... arr-521. what i wanted to know was, was there a way to get rid of the round handguards and get something railed for accesories? cause... its a nice upper, except that. halp pls?:wiggle:

They have rail attachments/adaptors for the round plastic handgaurds. But you won't be officially tacticool unless you have a full length quad rail on it, and it has to be TROY, LARUE, or the like.

  3. +1 If you want to keep the plastic handguards, there are little rail pieces available that mount to them.

I thought those were different depending on the type of barrel, thinking i want a bull barrel, but i'm sorta lost. i've got everything narrowed down, except the barrel and handguards.

It will explode in your face and kill everyone around you without at least 2 Larue products attached.

Of course, thats why I have a larue eotech mount, larue dual laser/light mount, larue tactical baseball cap light mount (incase my head wants to explode) , and larue tachical 7" handgaurd with LaRue flipup sights.

Forward grips are crap for the most part.

I agree. I only used to use it on my airsoft guns :mamoru:

  10. I think the forward grip replaced the idea of holding the magwell for guys with guns that are too front heavy to effectively use the magwell grip.

People try to death grip the forward grip to control recoil but it has the opposite affect.

then they're doing it wrong. a forward grip can actually be useful in manipulating a carbine, if done properly.

I find that on an M4gery, a foregrip that's almost at the rear of the railed handguard is pretty much in the ideal spot for me. Only need a short grip, because I'm not holding onto it like a bike handlebar, just using it as a rearward stop for my support hand.
Hard to explain without pics. But for me at least, it really is a lot better than the magwell grip--not that the magwell grip is bad, just that a properly placed foregrip works better for me.
