Armed Assault is the sequel to its predecessor Operation Flashpoint. I only mention it because it is one of the only games I have ever played that is realistic down to every detail. I was suprised to see that ricochets are even modeled. Eg: shoooting a .50 cal or M249 at a shallow angle on the ground yields a random shot going skyward. Even subtle things like mosquitos buzzing around your head when your near a swamp, or how combat noise is appropriately muffled when you are inside a vehicle. It has an editor thats pretty easy to make whatever the hell you want within a 400 square km island. Do you want to blow the shit out of a convoy of T-72s in a Cobra? Go toe to toe against enemy armor? Lone sniper taking out a leader? You can do ANYTHING in this game. Oh and did I mention that you have 40+ different weapons, and over 35 vehicles to choose from.

The game uses C++ scripting for more complex animations/actions in its editor, so it is definately possible. Lol.

Its Bohemia Interactive's game (they wored on OFP), Codemasters owns the Operation Flashpoint name and is releasing OFP 2 in the next year I think.

I downloaded the patched Euro version, and all I can say is this game kicks some major ass. The wont be in stores here till next month.

My Macbook Pro laptop runs it on high just fine. You can download both the included islands without the dynamic grass (moves with vehicles/wind/soldiers) and that allows for higher GFX settings for other things.

    No he doesnt.

Guess milsims arent for everyone. I mean if you like run n' gun shooters where the only buttons you have to remember are shoot and reload with no realism, then you wont like ArmA.

Search for "d3dx9_30.dll download" and download the DLL and put it in your C:/WINDOWS/System32 file with the rest of your DLLs and it should work just fine.
