I am creating a collection of WordPress templates and plugins for users to check out, download, install, and review.

I had read last week that Wordpress currently powers nearly 1% of all of the websites on the Internet currently. Seems pretty amazing.

not saying that hes going to make a fortune or anything near it, but there were search engines before google as well...

good luck with your project, the WP market is large enough that you should be able to get decent traffic.

From a quick glance at your site, it doesn't provide enough value to a user over the options currently available. Make your site substantially better than your competition, be it in the content of your site, by making the templates extremely accessible, or even creating a solid network around the idea. Don't make your site marginally (say, 15%) better than those who are out there already. Make it 300% better and you'll have a solid platform under you.

A quick example is Fawnt. It's a unique site that entered an undeniably saturated market (such as yours) and grew well because of its approach in distributing fonts and the target market it was designed around. It's very innovative for a font site and if it's developed properly, it can be very successful. First in accomplishing its goal of being the #1 font site for designers, and consequently in profitability.

Yea, I am sure the idea has been done over and over, but I think there is still a large part of the market to tap into.

I am attempting to make it more of a collaborative site, where users can rate and leave feedback on plugins and templates.

Site looks alright, but after 10 seconds of glancing at it, I couldn't find one theme. So I x'd it out.

Most of your users will probably have less patience than me, mind you.

Yea, I am trying to add a custom theme viewer to my site and it was causing errors so I just took the templates offline for now.
