I'm taking initiative and setting up the fabled Pledge Thread for the new Warskrull. I'll start off the pledging with $50. This stuff needs to go to Axio, btw. He'll get us infos.

I think he took checks last time. I'm gonna have to pay that way since I have no idea how to do it otherwise. My paypal is shot.

I can't afford $50. The money situation's even worse than last year. I will definitely kick some in. Probably $20 again.

I only use PayPal, you can mail me a check though.

Heres the problem: with the amount of space and bandwith we use we need at least $700-1000, regardless of wherever we go for a host. Our current server is paid until the end of September. After that they are asking for $1,200. I'm not going to pay that especially after they deep dicked us like they did. Unless we can scrape up close to $1,000 we won't have a consolidated site - any excess money will go towards more bandwidth and space like it did with warskrull, or to get non-av members avs.

Our other option is to use Rapidshare. It is free per link, but with premium accounts it is about $15 a month or $100 a year. They are kind of assholes about sharing accounts though, so setting up a communal OT is out of the question. At that point we can set up a site running the wikipedia script to make lists of all uploaded files. It is a bit messy but IMO it saves the whole problem of having to find another host that won't dick us over. Our main problem is that we got too large too quick.

Clearly, I'll kick in funds... But we need to decide what we are going to do pretty soon. Days are ticking away.

Oh, I didn't understand that Axio was trying to gauge our budget. I can donate $50-$100.

so why don't we just change the file types of half the files on warskrull, and when we upload....we have a code of files names. we just turn them all into *.cbr once they're downloaded.

that way, one, we won't be downloading the same file....and two, douche canoes that are leeching off the site won't know wtf they're downloading.

I don't think it would make a difference, and it is too much effort.

Right now we have a few options:
    1) Renew Warskrull as it is under the current server. Only this time we have strict rules over who can join and who can't. It keeps out stash to ourselves.
    2) Renew Warskrull under another server.
    3) Switch to torrents.
    4) Switch to rapidshare.

I'm fine with any of those, but we really have to have some idea of how much money we have to work with first. I need to know before the middle of next month so I don't get charged on my credit card.

If any of you people are using Time Warner Cable's RoadRunner service, then your newsgroups subscription is already paid with your services.

You just need a news reader like NewsBin Pro...if anyone needs any help, I can walk you through it.
