Mostly for the "Play video as Desktop" feature. But it's overall really smooth.

Dunno if that was recently added or been there forever.

I was waiting for this so badly! Why? One of my anti-mac friends was showing off with the feature from some windows program.. idk how much i'd use that, but that sounds cool. I'm going to download it tonite and check it out =)

In the preferences click "Advanced" at the bottom and under Interface>Main Interface>OSX you'll see the "use as desktop background" option.

In the video options you can set it to use the Quartz engine and apply some of the effects to whatever you play. Adding the blur effect makes it look trippy.

As for the version -> VLC 0.8.5-test3- is what I'm using.

Not really Mac related but sometimes I'll accidentally hit the key that tells BS player to play video on the desktop and I never remember how to turn it off at first.

Anyone tried this on a G3?
I don't want to delete my old version and not be able to use it anymore.

I wouldn't worry about losing your old version; you can get previous versions here: http://downloads.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/

This a beta or official release? Don't want to delete my current version for one that may be buggy.
