Not new, but new to me, Colt 1911 stainless MK4 Series 70 saved from police destruction for 650 all said and done. Will post pics when I get home, it seems to be in good shape, Basket Ball sized group at 50 yards the first time I shot it, and the first time I shot 45 auto. All and all I'm happy.

I think from what I have read, the 70 series Colts are some of the best 1911's Colt made. May be be mistaken.

And I think this was strictly from a metallurgy standpoint, they use very high quality parts and metal for their slides and recievers. Series 70 guns are some of the more saught after Colts for custom pistolsmithing. Check out the forum LouderThanWords.us. You can see the work of some of the best 1911 pistol smiths in the world there, guys like Ted Yost, Stan Chen, CT Brian... incredible shit. And the Colt Series 70 is a common platform.
