I played with one in the store the other day, must admit that it felt very solid. I don't really like the black bezel around the screen, the lack of a matte finish the on screen, or the "macbook" type keyboard, so I'm not feeling so bad for upgrading in March when they first announced the Penryn processors in the MBP's.

Enjoy it though, I love my MBP!

Oops, just realized it's a macbook, not a MBP.

    Either way, enjoy it :o

I am used to editing at 100% on my cinema display

I pulled up a full res shot in photoshop and put it at my comfortable editing size and it was at 33%

I won't be using it to edit all that much, more just for play and to load pics up when I'm away from my desktop.

I need to see one of these in person. Any big differences besides firewire between the new MB and MBP?

    screen size (obviously)
firewire (I don't ever use it on my mac pro)
illuminated keyboard (I don't care about, never used it on my old mbp)
weight (mb weighs 1lb less I think)
video card (mbp has 9400m gt and mb has 9400m)

I LOVE all of the new changes they made to their laptops... The glass touch pad that functions as a button, the fully machined - single piece shell, the new keyboard...

except that fucking glossy screen. The matte ones are soooo perfect. I don't understand why they got rid of em.

I actually leave my MBP at work now and am sitting her on an aluminum G4 Powerbook, I hate those screens so much.

thank GOD they haven't fucked up the cinema displays yet.

mac laptops have done that for years, 1 second to wake up or so, by the time you've opened the lid and put your hands on the keyboard its ready.

I want a laptop eventually to do slideshows on at weddings... and 13 inches seems to be a decent size. 4 gig of RAM should be plenty.
