Shit, I bet someone on Candlepowerforums.com could build something as good or better for a fraction of that price.

they should get on it just to piss off homeland security, who would like it restricted to LEOs only.

Doesn't look that effective. Just close your eyes/look away and walk towards the light. :dunno:

I say a really bright Q5 or something would be more effective than that. Just takes one flash to blind someone for a minute. You can't always count on a home invader to stare at the flashing like for 30 seconds until he gets a headache and his vision gets blurred.

I could see it being effective for riot control.

But then they'll just all bring sunglasses :mamoru:

I think the idea has multiple levels of efficacy:
    1) Super-bright (did you see all those LEDs?) makes it impossible to stare at / the glare makes it difficult to look beyond it.
    2) If you manage to "look beyond" the brightness, the random pulses in different colors will disorient you.

Obviously the "headache 30 minutes later" isn't going to do much to deter crime *now*.

Not the point. This device is solely for dispersing demonstrators or any other political "undesirables".

but, its hard to accurately commit a crime when you have massive lingering sun spots. :mamoru:
