    Hey all, I'm Mattea. =)

I don't have all the fancy equipment that a photographer's supposed to have--all I've got is a Nikon Coolpics LP that I bought at WalMart for $200.
I have no training, and I've taken no classes...but I love capturing what I can of the life that's around me. Here's some of my stuff--what can you suggest for what I've got to work with? I don't have the money to get any better equipment at this time, but I'd like to improve my skill if I can. :wiggle:

you seem to have a good eye, and an understanding of color which make your images more than just snapshots. i can't help but feel that the power of some of your pictures would be lost if presented on their own. there is a theme that emerges in the series that suggests a personal relationship with each image/experience that would not be as effective if seen alone. i'm not sure if this was your intention or not, as it is a legitimate and often very powerful way to work.

watch your horizon and cropping. this has a huge impact on the energy of the objects in your frame. crop out unnecessary objects that are distracting.

try working with other tools and phenomena, setting up the scene for framing in a photograph. if you can afford it, a tripod works wonders for dusk and night shots.

i don't know the specifics of your camera, but if it has a mode to control shutter speed or aperture i would learn how to use it. watch your highlights as some of your images seem overblown.

    Thank you! =)

Thanks! I'd like to do that.

Wow, I'm a n00b. I just got my camera out and it's a Coolpix L2, not LP. :greddy:

That must be the last pic there--it was taken with my friend's camera.

Thank you -very- much, that's very helpful advice!

On the first part there, I think I kind of understand what you mean; I like grouping certain pictures together but could never really explain why.
