    that lens isn't all that great. very slow at the long end.

    congrats on joining DSLR crew. i guess the D50 is a good entry level SLR. i wouldda gone with the canon 350D though :big grin:

    or went with a 300d and picked up some better glass ftw.
    it's got enough 'muscle' to get him started without spending a fortune and the extra $$$ towards glass would really make a big difference. Plus if he finds he sucks or doesn't enjoy photography, he can keep the 300d and kit lens and sell the more $$ glass on FM or ebay and not really be down a lot of $.

    edit: That lens won't be good at capturing fast moving objects.

    im fixing to sell some of my lenses that i wont need anymore since i just bought me the nikion 18-200vrigma
    i have a 18-70mm kit lens that ill prob sell an a sigma 70-300mm zoom macro apo II an a nikon 28-100mm wont need these all in good condition pm me if interested

    the Canon 18-55? I rarely see it go for more than $70 USD.

    don't get anything that has the Quantaray logo on it. Crappy lenses.

    Sold mine on ebay when I upgraded. got 130aud. thats about 100 of your dollars.

    may have just been lucky :wiggle:
