Most people recomend dealing with one thing at a time so, smoke on (assuming you mean cigs and not weed, weed is bad um-kay).

its ok. dont try to quit cigarettes for at least a year. if you are not romanticly involved, dont get involved. if you are, stay involved. no changes for a year!

you got a sponsor, right? I cannot emphasize how important that is. My sponsor has saved my life, twice.

    been there, done that

22 years and counting. I have been sober through two marriages, one divorce, the birth of my son, and his death at age ten. There is nothing that alcohol can add to my life today, and there hasn't been for a long time.

I aways shutter when I hear of people loosing a child, I can't even imagine the pain that must bring. I thank you for sharing that and staying sober through it, that is what drives the program! I know that some one else has gone through that so if loss comes my way I know I don't have to drink. Thanks for sticking around for 22 years, I love sitting at tables with old timers (or long timers to be PC).

    Thanks

I got sober in one of the ten largest cities in the country. There were three AA clubs within fifteen minutes of my home, and each club had at least two meetings a day. I routinely say in meetings with people who had twenty and sometimes thirty or more years of soberiety. I remember looking at people with double digit soberiety and not being able to believe they were telling the truth. One year seemed possible, but ten years, no way could I believe that.

Now I live in a town of 1100 people that has five meetings a week. Basically I tell the same story that I did 22 years ago, it's just longer now. It just goes to show you, AA works wherever you go.
