I posted a thread a week or so ago about getting my new safe.
Here it was when I first got it home.

Now here it is in the house.

And that's my son. He took a nose dive on the concrete the other day so he got a little scraped up.

I didn't really have a choice as to where to put it. I got most of my things in it before this picture but have a few more things to add. It's a decent deal for $350 but I don't think it would be worth normal price of $600.

My Lowes has that model. A rip-off at $864. It won't sell there; I know it. I'll wait until the price drops and then get the manager to hook me up. Should walk away with it for about $200... May take a while, but it should happen.

How is the quality like the keypad or anything? Does it feel cheap?

Very nice. They have some Stack on Safes here for 350, i wish i knew about them before i got my cheapy cabinate (stack on), but oh well, it works

Nice looking safe, and yea, kids tend to take nosedives at that age.

To be honest I don't have anything to compare it to but it seems fine to me. It definately doesn't feel cheap.

Yeah, the safe is overkill. And I'm three guns short. I carry one, I let my brother keep one of my glocks, and my wife's is in a "secure" location in the house in case of an emergency.
But we also have alot of other important stuff we need to put in there.

A safe is a great investment. It protects your guns and valuables when you aren't around. Be sure to bolt it to the floor and the wall.

hmmm, I don't remember that thread but I am not on the bandwagon. I don't have to have the best brand name, etc. PLus I don't need a $4000 Ft Knox vault. I have insurance that will pay for my firearms if stolen. Any good locksmith would probably be able to get into this safe in a short amount of time I would imagine. I just wanted a safe place to keep things and make sure my son can not get to them. And I'm sure the everday common thief will not be able to get this thing open without a good bit of effort. If he happens to bring along a dolly, some straps, and a friend he might can get it out of the house but again, I have insurance. After all, before this everything was just well hidden and out of reach for my son even though he's only one.
This will more than suffice for me.

This is 30 minutes at 1200 or 1400 degrees. I would think all of the fire proof safes woudl have to pass the test and be approved.
Besides, i didn't buy it just because it's fire proof. I am glad it does have that but it wasn't the most important thing.

Even the best safes out there are fire rated 1400 degrees for 32 minutes. That's the standard. 99% of the time when a thief sees ANY safe they'll just say fuck it and try to find something easier to steal. I talked to a guy at a gun show one day. He sells a ton of them and he warranties them (he'll replace it even if your house burns down or someone tries to break into it). He said that in five years only ten people have called asking for a replacement due to attempted break in. Only one of them was actually broken into. As long as you have a safe there isn't a very good chance that anyone will ever try to break into it. I don't think it matters how good it is as long as it seems sturdy and is heavy. I wouldn't trust one of those sheet metal lockers but any fire rated safe that weighs a lot will do the job.

Yeah, I'm kinda in the market for one right now but I don't feel comfortable with a Stack-On little cabinet thing. I'm impressed with the deal you got. I am not looking for anything enormous, my dad keeps most of our stuff at his house in a safe, but I want something substantial, preferably with actual locking bars in it like yours, not just a dinky little metal tab like the Stock-On's have.

Any thoughts on where to get a decent safe for a good price??? Lowest I have seen is $400 and that is just a hair out of my range right now. I have decided I will wait to get something worthwhile rather than rush into getting something cheap....
