I was supposed to go to a powerlifting meet yesterday but it was cancelled so my training partner decided to hold a test day at his place (Garage Ink). I ended up doing...

    Squat:
    407
    435
    468.5 <- PR (452 previous best)

    Bench:
    286.5
    303 <-- PR (281 previous best)

    Deadlift:
    407.5
    455
    500 <-- Missed (current PR 485)

Overall a good day for me. The squat and bench were done with kilo plates in an ER Rack. The deadlift was done in pounds cause we were too lazy to use the kilo plates. I was slightly bummed about missing 500 but its definately there. I think the fact that it came up off the floor so easily took me by surprise and I stopped pulling which lead to be not being able to lock it out all the way. My next meet in in December and I'm aiming for a 500 squat/310-320 bench/500 dead. I have pics and I'll post em later tonite..

btw - I compete at 220 but I'm currently at or just below 230 at the moment.

Thanks man.. I attribute my progress to training with Niko over at Garage Ink. He is a great guy and has really helped me with my technique. I can't wait to get the fuck out of this shitty Inzer Z suit (might as well be a fucking singlet) and into a nice Titan suit. The new NXT material is fucking nice. Ofcourse I still have strides to make in my raw training (haven't been wrapped/suited since last march)

Oh I definately have been. My tris have been a very large weakpoint of mine and a good chunk of my focus is towards my tris. Sadly they suck.. and I need to fix that. My raw bench blows.. 1rm is 245 and I want it to be where my shirted bench is now.

Truth. Kilo plates are so decievingly heavy. Loading/unloading the greens in a pain in the ass.

    nice work bro

edit: and welcome to the shitty bench crew!!

On that note, your shirted bench may not just be a strength issue. I personally put 40lbs on my shirted bench in one day with proper coaching. Concentrate on actively pulling the bar down to your body quickly and firing your triceps immediately out of the hole.

Everyone does. Its the embarrassment of how shitty my bench is that keeps me plugging away. For only two years of lifting I think I've made good progress so far though. My bench has come up from 195/200 last december to my 1rm raw (last tested in aug) of 245. Hopefully I'll make better gains now that I am really trying to blast my tris and delts.

Its definately a tricep thing.. well more so than a form thing. My tris are small and weak. I'm working on it though. I have a meet coming up in early december so this next training cycle I will concentrate on bringing up my tricep and rear delt strength.
