Recently picked up what will be my new IDPA ESP gun for next year. I was going to do a complete custom in 9mm, but decided to keep it in the family and pick up another Springer, and I'm impatient, and it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper for a gun that'll be a game only. I figure I'll start working on it now, considering the wait time on my smith.

I picked up a S&A Flat MS mag well, and picked up a couple extra mags, other than that she's completely stock for now. I've put 300 flawless rounds thus far at the first range trip, I'm very excited to get started. I'll begin load testing and she should be good to go for my March IDPA match for a test run or two, then under the knife she goes. I'll probably do something similar to my Dan Wesson build. Infinity trigger, Cylinder and Slide trigger group, Dawson Front sight, yada yada.

    Stay tuned.

    Nice photos, man. :)

Did the grips come stock with the pistol or did you find them somewhere online? I'd like to have a set for my milspec but can't locate them at Springfield's shop.

Hmm, I was just on the Taurus site & no 9mm or 40 in a 1911 that I saw. :dunno:

There is a lady that shoots our matches with that model and it is probably the most reliable 1911 type pistol I've seen show up.

I personally don't like 1911s in 9mm (10mm or .45 for me), but that is a nice looking gun.

I figure it's better than a .22 conversion. :) I used to not believe in them either, but I love the platform and they've got them down to a science nowadays. And it's strictly going to be a race gun for competitions. Plus, when I'm done it'll be far from factory. :x:

Damn, I thought I knew what i wanted for IDPA but after seeing the Taurus 1911 I'm twisted.....again.

I was thinking the XD service model in 9mm. Already have a Beretta 96 but that is my project gun.

I run an .45 XD Tactical in IDPA for CDP. It's ran flawlessly and I was a few points from making Expert on my last classifier. I'm just a sandbaggin Sharpshooter.

We have a county IDPA club that shoots at 3 different alternating ranges. As soon as I get my rig set I'm jumping in with both feet. Hopefully I can make my first match at th end of March. They let you shoot one match as a non-member to see if you like it. From what i have seen in the vids that won't be a problem.

the tactical is a great gun and I've seen many in competition shooting. Nice thing about the XD is since it's a true single action, you can have the trigger done pretty close to a competition 1911 trigger. I had a 45gap done with a 3.5lb trigger with no creep and broke like glass with a tungston guiderod for front end weight to lower recoil.

One of the things leading me to the XD tactical is the ease of gettig parts and easy non-gunsmith changes.
