I immediately thought of that too, seriously wtf. We invaded Afghanistan 7 years ago and Iraq 5 years ago and now when both Presidential candidates are talking about withdrawing from Iraq they finally get around to passing a "new" GI Bill that won't help the vast majority of the veterans. Especially those that faced the worst combat.

I thought as long as you served honorably or medically discharged after 9/11 and have not used the old bill, you can use this one? if not, my brother is going to kick my ass for telling him otherwise :mamoru:

I understand completely. My friend got out due to a back injury. He was in from 2001 to 2006. He was a 63B, and had to change his career, he used his GI Bill to get his new career, and now he has heard of the new plan. So he won't even reap the benefits of something he earned. It's bullshit.

You get it back as your final payment of new GI bill.

Im getting ready to use my GI Bill at the end of this year also. Just got my paperwork in the mail for it and everything. So after reading the posts im guessing start and when the benefits go in effect i will have 3 years left of GI Bill and rest start with the new version or whatever? Also I will be using my VOC Rehab.
