I have an old machine that currently has Win '98. My little sister has been using it and lately it has crashed repeatedly, the spyware is piling up and there is noticeable slowdown. I plan on reformatting. What OS should I put in, Win2k Pro or XP Pro.

It's a P2 333 w/ 128MB RAM, 40G HD. XP prob needs 256 to run well so my initial choice is 2k. Any reason why I should choose XP?

Keep in mind it is for my sister so please dont recommend any non-Windows OSes.

i personally wouldn't go higher than W2K on that system.

but i've heard of some using XP with slower systems.

W2K.... XP is too bloated for that machine and she won't be happy with it.

I tried running XP on my P2 300 with 96MB and it kept crashing, whereas on my P2 400 with 448MB it ran/runs just fine.
