New motherboard for Socket 940...

    I am looking for a new motherboard for my setup and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. I am also planning on buying a 74 gig SATA raptor and a secondary PCI video card with the new motherboard.




    Here is my current setup.
    Case:
    Lian-Li Silver ATX Mid Tower Case, Model "PC-V1200"

    Power Supply:
    Antec True 480w

    Motherboard:
    ASUS "SK8V" K8T800 Chipset Motherboard

    CPU:
    AMD Athlon 64 FX-53, 1MB L2 Cache, 940-pins, 64-bit Processor
    Thermaltake 90mm High Performance 2 Ball Bearing DC Fan
    SLK948U Thermalright Copper Heatsink

    Ram:
    2x
    Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, Low Latency 184 Pin 512MB ECC Registered DDR PC-3200 w/ Platinum-Silver Heat Spreader

    Video card:
    Sapphire x800 XT PE AGP

    Harddrive:
    Maxtor 250GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive

    I dont know if you are an overclocker or what. First thing,,,, dont get a 940pin, get 939. 940pin is on its way out the door, honestly. And get a board that has pci-e so it is more future upgradable. I would recommend the msi k8neo3 as your board, it is 939 and has a pcie slot. I have an x800 pro....it works ok for now, it sucks in doom 3 though, and does not support pixel shader 3.0, like the xt pe... id recommend the geforce 6800 ultra. hope this helps a bit

    Well. I would love to get a 939 but i purchased the 940 when the 939 was non existant. so i can't really purchase another processor.
