First time trying macro with something that can actually produce a greater than 1:1 ratio... I shot these this afternoon with a 50mm AF minolta reverse mounted to my D70 and a 2X manual teleconverter. I think they came out pretty well for being a first time. I used an SB800 for light. Dont know much about f numbers but the iso was about 800 and the shutter was anywhere between 50 and 500.

    Any tips?

The bug was about 1cm long for scale purposes.

Well I'm in no position to criticise as my macro shots are terrible, but the top one is very out of focus in almost everywhere apart from the 3 obvious nearest areas, and also seems blurry. The bottom one is clearer, but I don't know what I'm looking at.

Like I say though, my opinion isn't worth a thing as I'm VERY POOR at this, but still...

Also it's 3am and my eyes are blurry so it could be them, not the picture :big grin:

i wouldnt even know how to do that if i wanted to, but i'd sharpen up the eye of the bug and have that be the only focus point.
