Finally got the stuff set up how I want it, including new keyboard + keycaps and the banner, etc. Mac Pro is a quad 3.0/8GB with GF7300 until the 8800 is available for it. G5 is DC 2.3/5.5GB. Desk and rack are anthro :)

Anyway, pics all around of the office/war room where I make my living. I do motion graphics, video editing, production and such. The keys are mostly just cause I play, don't do much pro work with em other than quick scores and stuff on rare occasion.

    The desk & such:

Better pic of the rack, Netvista P3 SFFs:

Notes, storyboards, etc. - super secart so chopped out :noes: I've got a few of these modular boards, whiteboards, cork, etc. I can swap up there for whatever project I've got going currently.

Behind it i has boxes & books, more above it. lolcuffs

To hell with power outages. Keep the pair of boxes up over 2 hours on tired batteries w/ full CPU load.

that is a fucking SICK setup for home use. Those UPSes are hilarious overkill  what do you do that needs two hours of uninterruptible lights-off uptime?

Nothing in particular but I need a serious UPS to handle the wattage they pull (more so with the previous dual 3.2 Xeon homebrew rig the mac pro replaced). The rest well...I got a good deal on it. To be fair though, the headroom is nice. When the power gets shitty, it usually browns out or goes on and off a few times. I'd rather just keep working without thinking twice. The runtime pretty much guarantees I can finish a render or whatever I'm working on before they run out of steam

They're also a good incentive not to move any time soon since that stack is almost 600lbs :madfawk:

    Airport extreme :mamoru:
The netvistas handle network rendering distribution...or did sorta, I'm attempting to get it rocking seamlessly with xgrid. Eventually I play on doing hackintosh c2q builds with them for some additional render cores :noes:

eBay. Clients love it when they visit :greddy:

eh, I lie, I got it because I dig it too

Please tell me you have another reason for that beautiful PowerMac than just extra render cores....

I've been pining for a PowerMac for months now.

If you compose and go all out with your gear, why no monitors? Just doesn't look right with those crap speakers.

What do you use the powermate for?

I don't compose...I play, and 99% of the time its just for personal enjoyment. Further, the Klipsch 2.0's are actually quite good, far better than the 2.1/4.1 sats, only they don't have a 'sub'. too bad they aren't made anymore, they're a hell of a value for <$100. Anyway.. for when it matters, I have modded Senn HD580s. At some point I may up to a pair of powered Micro monitors of some sort, maybe the M-Audios or some smaller Rolands, but no need at this point. If I'm listening critically I'll be elsewhere with the cans, or my big system in my living room, or the smaller one in my bedroom, both of which are quite nice :big grin:

Powermate is set up for a lot of stuff...volume obviously by default, which I like. In FCP or After Effecs, Etc. turning is frame by frame, push-turn = shift-turn = fast scrub. Push = play/pause. Push-hold disables/enables viewport rendering. In photoshop, I have it set to brush opacity, brush size on push-turn. Push-hold gives you the hand, to move the canvas view around. It's a pretty pimp little toy :)

I do work on it too...it's up as basically a duplicate of the Mac Pro still, but once I'm not under fire on a project, I'll probably wipe it and put server on. Then I can use it as a workstation but it can handle xgrid properly and what not.
