I just got an M-Audio Audiophile 2496, for which to replace my onboard audio on my Abit NF7-S motherboard.

My cousin told me that he had to completely disable his onboard sound on his ASUS mobo to keep the audio from crackling for some applications--I only seem to experience the crackling when playing DVDs on PowerDVD, though.

Can anyone tell me how I can disable the nForce2 audio on my motherboard completely? I already went to the audio properties and disabled the nForce Audio Codec Interface and MCP Audio Processing Unit.

    Many thanks! :bigthumb:

for my Asus A7N8x I had to disable it via jumpers.

some are jumpers, some are bios.
