I'd say with like 99% confidence that they will not be released before August/ September.

    But who knows.

I'd agree. Not too likely to change the lineup with the back to school promo going on already. If I was to guess I'd think Macworld in January for any major changes to the lineup.

    My prediction:

    1. MacBook in September/October
    2. MacBook Pro & Air at Macworld '09
    3. Mac Pro at WWDC '09 (it will probably be speed bumped at MW, though)

And I'm about 85% confident of #1 and about 65% on #2 and #3. For the record, my predictions run about 80% accurate for Apple trade show announcements (I went 5 for 5 during the WWDC with predictions posted on OT). Apple usually schedules a special event in September/October time frame and this year, the MacBook fits an announcement at that event:

    - Reports from China leaked MacBook enclosure details 4 months ago putting it ahead of MBP development.
    - MB didn't get the multi touch trackpad during the last update indicating it was nearing the end of it's development life.
    - Apple's event in September/Oct is usually a consumer product, last year is was iPods & iPod Touch, so a pro machine is unlikely.
    - Centrino 2 was just released prompting manufacturer updates.
    - Intel has commited to Quad Core mobile processors (suitable for MBP use) in Q3/Q4 '08, leading to a later launch for an MBP.

the learning curve is a small one don't worry about it. I would try and hold out for a few months.

I dont remember there being huge changes during summers, only speed bumps. Macword in Jan usually has the epic revelations.

White is $1099 or $1299 and Black is $1499. With educational pricing, it's $999, $1199, and $1399 so it should be $200 difference..... that is unless you're upgrading the hard drive in the $1299 one to a 250gb, which is probably what you're doing. My bad

Yea if your always waiting youll be waiting forever because there are always rumors of something bigger and better coming out for the same price as the current model that it is replacing :hs:

It's a lot more than a rumor at this point, if you pay attention to Apple SCLM.

I'm betting on a new MacBook within 60 days and a new MacBook Pro in January.
