I got some new lighting gear recently, seen here:

430EX, Cactus Triggers, stand, umbrella, and the bracket. I've been messing around with it for the past few days and I've learned a lot, so it came out last night during our new year's eve festivities.

I also got a StoFen which I really like. Much better looking light from on-camera flash IMO

Nothing spectacular here, I just never post pics so I thought I would share a few. Feel free to C+C the first two photos, but the others are just expensive snapshots :mamoru:

from the looks of your stand you didn't mount the umbrella and flash correctly

go read/watch the strobist 101 vid, there's actually a specific way to mount the flast so that it actually hits the center of the umbrella

    ;)

you can tell from how high the light was in your umbrella, if you set it right the light will be in the center of the umbrella...you paid for the umbrella, use the whole thing ;)

it's also more effecient and better lighting when it's set right:o

umbrella was also too close to the flash:o

and I don't remember if it says anything in the vid, but set your flash to it's most zoomed out setting. For example I know the SB600 has a little piece that flips down and gives it a "range" of 14mm. This is the best amount of light you can get.
