I'm picking up a laptop this weekend, and I've narrowed the choice down to two Asus notebooks.

    A8JS

    F3SV-A1

I had initially wanted to the A8JS, but I saw the newer F3 has come out. Basically, it really comes down to which has the faster video card, the GeForceGo 7700 w/ 512mb or the GeForce 8600M GS w/ 256mb. The screen size doesn't really matter either way, and I'll be putting another stick of 1gb ram and running XP and Ubuntu. I'm hopin to use it for most everything media wise, and it'd be nice to play some games on it.

up to you, they're both good. I hope you're not buying it for gaming, anyway.

No, not specifically for gaming. Just that I'd like to play a few games if possible, like FEAR or Quake 4.

I'd go for the smaller, lighter A8JS. But if I were buying a laptop, I'd be looking for a 12".

I have a w3j, but I got out of keeping up with their shit soon after. Personally I'd go for the one with the higher res screen
