Just got back from picking my first handgun up at as 21yo. Decided I needed to get myself something nice for graduation. Haven't got to hit the range yet but maybe later today I can break it in.

:coold:, but I hate those grips. I'd rather have some cocobolo wood grips on it.

 I've been thinking about buying a Desert Warrior, unless I can find a good deal on a SA TRP Operator with the full length rail.

Yea I might get some Gunner grips. Either Black or OD green but probably black.

Had I turned 21 a few months back I would've got an Operator because a place was running a group buy with guns at 10% below cost due to a Sale SA was having. I'm still happy with this though :)

I'm still new to Kimbers but this what I've gathered. The warrior has ambidextrous safeties on it. The other two don't. The Warrior has an internal extractor which the other two might or might not have. I believe Kimber went to the external extractor with what they called a "Series 2" pistol and some people had problems or didn't like it. They also added a firing pin safety in these models which is described in the link below. It apparently makes cleaning the weapon more difficult and is another thing that might get in the way when it does come time to use your weapon. The Warrior also has the Kimpro finish which might be a stronger or more resistant to the elements then the finish found on the others.

thats it? i dont know if that justifies the extra 300 bucks. im really only buying the kimber because my options for a 1911 are scarce, but ive now found a couple of places locally that are dealing with colts and sa. im thinking for 500 bucks i could pick up one of them and then add another 150 on top of what im paying and get an xd 45

For some people, it's worth it just to have a Series I Kimber instead of a Series II. The trigger definitely feels better on Series I guns, due to not having that firing pin block. The firing pin block definitely makes the gun safer for carry, in case you drop it while the hammer is back.

The internal extractor is also a big thing for a lot of people, too, because there's a lot of hate for Kimber's external extractor.

Yeah, a lot of people had problems with the external extractor, which is why I never fired mine and sold it after finding out they went back to the internal extractors shortly after I purchased mine. :hs:

I have an external extractor model and mine has been flawless. My friends CDP is a different story but I think its his 10rd McCormick mags cuz with his factory 7rd kimber mags his gun worked fine. I use 8rd Wilson Combats and again I haven't any any ftf or ftes, I have over 3000rd through mine.

The biggest diff I think between the warrior and TLE are ambi safety, mr peanut grips, layard loop on the msh, internal extractor (but all 06 models have internals now), and different night sights on the warrior. Custom 2s have fixed sights, standard rubber grips, no rail, and I think thats it.

I would rather carry a 4" TLE/RL II than a Warrior. I like the rubber grips and the block for carry.

That's the reason all new Kimbers are being made with internal extractors. My 2006 Custom II has an internal, and has been absolutely flawless.
