just had my first shift today, absolutely stoked. the gym is on campus, and was just rebuilt during the last year. i dont have a actually qualification (cert. in fitness), so my position is reception and membership sales consultant (selling memberships).

    stats of gym:

    9000 sq ft

first the stuff you lot are interested in:

    2xbench press
    2xsquat rack
    2xdeadlift station/pads
    2x smith racks
    DB up to 100lbs

benches, decline benches, preacher stand etc

    other add-ons

extensive cardio equipment (10x treadmills, 10x cross trainers, 20x exercise bikes, 5xseated rowing machines)
    machines for all muscle groups
group fitness classes (spin, pump, step, yoga etc for the ladies)

    and the obvious changerooms/showers etc

i guess what i like about it is that while it obviously caters for alot of newbs and woman who just want cardio, machines and group fitness, it still has a good section for those who want to actually throw shit in the air.

best thing for me, i can train for free being a staff member. that includes gym + group fitness if i wanted to hit that up too

gold membership (gym + group fitness) with student discount is $581 per annum, while silver (gym only) is 447 per annum. so im saving at least the 447 per annum which is pretty good for a student. being on campus, there is zero travelling to another job, so its a cruise-come to uni, go to gym for a shift, leave for a class, come back and do more shift, finish 6pm then workout for free after shift.

ill try and get pics if anyone is interested in seeing the place. some of the athlete gym pics that have been recently posted here blow mine out of the water with 10 squat racks/bench racks etc but mine isnt an athlete only gym and it seems to cater well for the universities needs. (there were 50+ people in there during peak time today and i wasnt hard pressed to find the bench/machine/db i wanted)

    my stats: 6"1' 187 lbs
pay rate: $19.96ph casual (no annual leave /sick leave etc)

900 sq ft ? I think my basement is almost 900 sq ft, seems kinda tight.

    9000 maybe?

they dont often pay australians in american dollars. but remember, its all relative. a loaf of bread here is going to cost a similar amount to your loaves of bread (3.50 dollars here, 3.50 dollars in america) so 20 here is decent just as 20 in america is good. my 20 dollars australian is only worth less if i try and take it to america (unless i took it a year ago :wtc:)

The problem is it's not really year round if it's a uni gym -- it would just be during the semesters wouldn't it?

that is pretty good, i know they only pay our front desk people 7-10 bucks an hour, but they do give em commission on anything they sell.
