So this was started around February, but I didn't think anyone wanted to see outline/halfway done pics so I waited a while to snap some. The lower part of the leg is still not finished, but should be by the end of July.

    Couple things:
-I don't have a stand up mirror so these shots are kind of awkward
-the bottom part is still peeling

    Find a better artist

There's tons of shakey and blown out lines in that tattoo.

That was the plan because I see them, too. I'm gonna let him finish this one and then move on to someone else.

I wouldn't even let him finish it. You're better off finding someone that can fix this one now instead of waiting till it's done and having a larger problem.

the only guy I know who can do a better job is the guy who runs the shop and his waiting list is like 1.5 years...

I wouldn't go to that shop at all if there's someone working there who does work like that. :dunno:

You're in TX, I'll see if eelliss can come in and suggest a ton of artists in your area.

    it would be much appreciated

edit: and to clarify, the guy who is doing the piece just guest spots in Austin, his shop is in Houston. Chris Trevino runs the shop in Austin.

yeah... like I said I'd love for Chris to do work on me but the waiting list is crazy. Plus, it's a little pricey for the income I'm on right now.

Chris is INCREDIBLY fast and I think very reasonably priced. $150/hr for outlining and $125/hr for everything else.

What's the guy's name who is doing your current work?

I haven't really talked to Chris directly because he's always busy when I go in there, but I heard it was like 300/hr... maybe I heard wrong.

Gregg Higgins is the guy that's doing my leg.

my very first thought. colors look a little bland too, but maybe thats just me. otherwise, i like the piece, but the artwork is kinda meh.

Definitely don't let him finish it!

The tattoo can still be saved by a good artist!

I have a half sleeve that some jamoke started(actually halfway decent just an alcoholic)...i could see it going bad and got a new artist I am so much happier then I would have been..this shit is permanent and your tattoo could be so much better..even now its in the stages where it could be fixed....no one stops after shading an inch...

gregg is the guy who does my work. hes capable of some really great work

hes also capable of some off the wall lines. we are both really into spider webb, dan higgs and greg irons, so im really okay with some blown out or shaky lines here and there. i also tremble uncontrollably sometimes, so i come to expect it.

you just really have to catch gregg in the proper mindset. hes a strange guy, but he has some great ideas that come from his head.

The guy is definitely awesome, and it's a blast to have a brainstorming session. He'll always have really good ideas but can't quite articulate them, so I'll say a couple things and then finally hit the nail on the head and he'll get all excited.

    More pics of that piece?

its on my friend danns arm. gregg really doesnt like copying flash or anything like that, he just wants to draw on your with a marker and go from there. the art above is someone elses, but him doing the work. he also gets kind of jealous if youre his friend and let someone else tattoo you.

ive posted pictures of my ribs and right arm before, and have gotten compliments. but hes definitely capable of fucking up. im really not into almost perfect tattooing, so i love the work hes done on me. but the dude is straight out to lunch, and youre right, its really hard for him to articulate whats going on in his head.
