OMG I want an Ibook so badly now, but i have a few q's

Do the ibooks qualify for the free ipod mini? and also will the new ibooks with an extra 512 ram be good enough for macromedia flash and photoshop? also what games would i be able to run on so little vid memory, i cant afford anything higher. :( im trying to make a deal with my uncle where i give him my laptop and some monthly payments and hell get me a 14in ibook.

If you want to play video games, just don't buy a laptop. Sorry, but it's the truth. And yes, if you buy the $950 or more ibook through the apple education store, you can get the free ipod mini. and i'm not sure how an ibook would deal with photoshop, but my 1.5ghz powerbook with 512 mb of ram runs photoshop elements fine. with a little more ram than 512, you will be golden.

The screens have the same resolution -- just get the 12" to save yourself some money...

i was on a 14" 1024x768 but my uncle has a 20inch 1280x1024 which i love and thats what ive been using recently so 12" probably would suck and no dvd burner plus slower processor sucks.

    I went from a 17" ~1280x1024 to my current 12" 1024x768, i haven't really noticed it much.

what do you plan to do on your computer? if you're going to get a laptop, you're going to have to make some sacrafices performance wise. processors numbers aren't everything either, a 1.33 ghz ibook with maxed out ram would still be pretty damn fast relative to other notebooks.

well i dont have a pc, lets just put it that way, i will want to download torrents, and basically just surf the web, listen to music, watch movies, burning dvds is a huge plus and also photoshop and maybe a game that can actually be run by the laptop.

so is 32mb ddr comparable to a regular sdr ram on the video card? because that is just so bad.

I wouldn't really get a mac for any kind of gaming. At least, until the Intel processor macs come out. The G4 is too slow and the video card is fairly weak to be able to play anything newer than UT2k4 on the lowest quality settings well. But for anything other than games, OS X just rocks.

i think formz has a 1ghz powerbook, so that's why he's saying that. And yes, the powerbooks do have better video cards than ibooks.
