i purchased a new seagate 320gb drive, its 5400rpm with 8mb cache. it replaced my 80gb stock fujitsu drive

i put the new drive in a usb enclosure and used superduper to clone my stock drive to it

now with the new drive installed, booting takes a good 65 seconds (booting snow leopard) also, it takes about 35 seconds on the gray screen even before the apple logo shows up. after that the blue screen, then finally my desktop

the drive doesn't seem slow, infact after booting up - it seems a little bit faster than my stock drive.

i repaired permissions on the new drive, but it did not help

i guess i could do a fresh install of snow leopard

i'll probably do this today sometime

if that fixes the issue, it would be awesome, but it would make superduper look bad

if that doesn't fix the issue, it would mean that my hard drive sucks

check your startup disk is set to the drive first...
when you swapped it it could've change to something else so it's going through the list till it finds your drive... might explain your delay?

if your drive is first on the list... format and start over :hs:
