Planning on picking up g19 next tuesday potentially, if not later next week.

What else do I need to pick up?

-Snap Caps are on the list

-Cleaning kit. I've fired many a guns in my day, but they were my fathers so he always cleaned them. So what all do I want to look for in a good cleaning kit?

    -Holster

    Am I missing anything?

    Ammunition? :dunno:

    Extra magazines.

    Laser sight.

    Tactical flashlight.

    Holographic sight.

    Bayonet.

    I don't think I forgot anything.

    ammo is given.

the rest will be subsequently afterwards... just wondering what else I might need when I go to purchase it.

My big concern is what I need to look for in a good cleaning kit.

Good eye and ear protection. There's nothing really special about a cleaning kit. Get one that fits. Some people like boresnakes. Snap caps aren't needed unless you want to simulate a bad round.

    prevent dry fire damage.

But eye and ear I got from my shotguns.

Any special oils I need, or are they all just the same deal?

Range bag, trigger/chamber lock, +1 to boresnake, extra paper wipes, eyes and ears.

I use Breakfree CPL on everything, including boresnake. Some thicker lube for spring/rails. You can just start with the Hoppe's Kit and get a can of CPL

    Are you going to carry?

You can dry fire a Glock infinitely and not have to worry about damage. I wouldn't bother with the snap caps unless you want to randomly load one in the mags to see what kind of shooting mistakes you're making.

Nightsights, ammo, cleaning kit, range bag, safety glasses, earmuffs/plugs, and extra mags are what I'd pick up. Maybe extended slide release/mag release as well.

Werd. Extended controls were the best thing I could have done to my G23. I have small hands and it helped immensely.

    I looooove this stuff:

A light coating on slide-frame rails w/ a pipe cleaner and the gun smooths out like no other. I'm sure it catches more debris then regular oil. They've got a dry spray film out that I've been meaning to try as well.

lol, if dry firing glocks are bad, none of my Glocks know it. I KEEP my glock downstairs, and between that and my 1911, I drop the hammer on them for at least an hour every other night. I've never had to replace anything on my gun, on account of my dry fire practice.

The only use I have of snap caps are to practice my "tap, racks", and to show my friends how bad their flinching. lol

You can dry fire a glock as much as you want, no damage will occur. I have dry fired my glock thousands of times.

Syncolon super lube sounds like something you'd find in FS.

For the cleaning kit I second what everyone says about CLP. I've found that a toothbrush works well for cleaning the slide serrations, rails, etc. You might also want to pick up a silicon cloth, they work great for getting it nice and shiny again after dry firing or practicing.

The Glock manual does detail how to properly clean it, correct? Because I won't have a clue until I read.

Is that CLP available in storefronts, or online only?

But I'm almost certain that God himself is telling me he wants me to be armed this week. I've been saving up for the past few weeks, and wasn't intending on purchasing until mid-Jan. But I got an unexpected check, and earlier this week my friend said he'd be able to pay me back the small loan he give me next check, so i figured I might be able to squeek by. But then at work (I work on tips) I just raked it all in this week, I'm a good 150 bucks over where I normally want to be at week end and I still have one more day of work left... so yeah, I think God wants me to buy a Glock. lol

I wanna get it before I get the gun though... since someone posted an excerpt from their glock manual that said a cleaning is good to do out of the box... even though it seems most people will say "Don't worry about it, I fired xxx rounds before my first cleaning and it's still going strong" I just like to make sure i take care of my things. So if I buy online, there will be days where I won't be able to fire my new gun, and I'm sure you all know what that would feel like :noes:
