My friend's grandpa gave him this gun and in which he is letting me keep with me and on it it says "Ward's Western Field Model 87-SB87-TA" If it helps it also says "2094577 PATENTS 2224/58 2223039 RE22585 2271576"

From what I have researched all I can tell is that it is a Savage/Stevens model 87. Can anyone get any more information on this gun?

It is a tube fed semi-auto .22 made between 1938 and 1945 with a laminate stocks. Pretty good condition too. Im about to take it apart and clean it up well.

It looks like a Savage I saw in the gun shop a few weeks back.

More like if the gun is a good shooter or if there is any other particular information i needed to know about it. I was also curious to how rare it is and even though we dont plan on selling it, what is the value of it?
