Was just at my local gun store and was looking at 9mm's for my first pistol. They had two new guns that I was thinking about.

    a Glock G19 for $550.
    a Beretta 92fs for $650.

The Glock Felt better in my hand. Ive shot a .40 cal glock and liked it but never a Beretta. Anyone got any advice?

The beretta is a full size (and full weight) pistol. For plinking and range shooting you arent going to find a better gun. I shoot a 92 very accurately.

I bought a glock 17, and love it. The g19 is going to be more of a carry gun. Smaller, lighter. It all depends on what you are going to be using the gun for.

Ya I will most likely be carrying the gun. And then pick up a .22 for the range.

So when I go in there to buy it is there anything else necessary to buy? And should I try to buy a holster from the store or get a custom one?

Also what kind of carry ammo and range ammo should i see if they have?

I'd buy a few boxes of 9mm FMJ (full metal jacket) if it's $12-$13 per 50. You can worry about holsters later on after more research.

G19. Better buy it quick, around here the fuckers have been selling out in less than a day.

    Range.

Just make a note on what brand carry ammo they carry and how much it costs. It should be $1 per round.

Another good reason to purchase a Glock is that the magazines are way cheaper than every other pistol. I can get a grip of 9mm Glock mags for $55. Conversely, that buys like one and a quarter mags for my M&P.

    The KCW ones?

Factory Glock mags are $25 unless you have some secret source.

G17 is softer shooting but the grip is too big for me.

eh, not really a secret source, but you can definitely find deals.

I got a BUNCH of 17 mags a couple years back or $11/ea.
