So, I am planning on picking up a new carry pistol sometime after x-mas. I am thinking about a S&W Airweight 642 for something smaller and lighter to carry in the summer, or just toss in my pocket when running to the corner store. On the other hand, I kinda want a XD45 Compact, for somthing in a larger caliber. The XD45 would also work in my Threat Solutions holster I cerrently carry my XD9 in. I need some help deciding on what to get. Help me out with Pros & Cons of going larger and going smaller. :x:

I want to stay in the $500 price range. 642 + holster, or XD45 w/o any extras.

Just looked, and the XD45 is only 1" longer and 4oz. heavier than my XD9SC

642 Smaller, more reliable, doesn't rust

Yeah, but the backplate of my holster will still cover it and it will sit just as low as my XD9. Look at the pick, my barrel is flush w/the front part of the holster, and I still have a good 1.5" remaining on the back piece.

You have a big gun, now you need a pocket gun which means 642 or p3at. Do you ever find yourself saying man this XD is too small and too light, I need a bigger gun :big grin:

i personally like the airweight but after having shot one i didnt like the recoil so much so i bought a taurus 85 with the bobbed hammer. its quite a bit heavier but same basic look and mechanics. its nice and would fit perfectly in my pocket if we could cc here

    lol, true.

............and yes, sometimes I do wish I had something bigger. When I am out in the woods where we hunt at, with cougar, bear, and elk roaming around I dont think my little 9 would do much.
