Just recently purchased some checkered rosewood S&W grips for my 638.
Took off my Uncle Mikes and placed on the new ones and tightened them up.
When cocking with the shrouded hammer or squeezing as to fire the grips will rock.
It seems like there is too much of a gap behind the trigger and trigger guard.
I'm guessing I need to fill that in with some rubber or something. Anyone have this problem?
The grips are beautiful but this problem kind of puts a damper on my excitement. I'm sure with some retro-fitting I can get it to work just looking for ideas from some of you. I'm sure I'm not the first to have this issue!
    Picture for reference...

get electrical tape and cut it to fit the area and just start layering until its snug

I'm just not sure exactly where I would layer it. The grips rock front and back. Front meaning towards the trigger and backwards away from the trigger until it stops once it hits the wood right behind the trigger guard.

Sorry, I have no input to your dilemma...Just curious where you ended up getting those grips. They look great.

take the grips off and run it from the rear of the trigger guard down to the bottom of the grip where your pinky is

    Honestly crazy story.

Made a post on THR.org some guy sent me a PM stating that he just bought the exact grips I was looking for from another member. He said they were really hard to find etc. Well he got the grips tried them on and thought they were going to be larger than stock and he didn't want them. So he PM's me back and I buy them off him.

I couldn't find them anywhere online.

so far the tape seems like the best idea, my only concern would be moisture getting stuck under it and causing rust.
